The Corrus Consortium

The Corrus Consortium is fundamentally a religious organization following the god Corr.

They don't govern systems directly, but their power and influence are now so vast that they effectively rule and protect many systems within the direct grasp of the consortium.

The religion is found throughout the world, but their grip and influence are strongest in the south and west of the belt.

The Consortium itself exists alongside multiple systems. The consortium does not rule or govern, but in most systems where the Consortium has followers, you will commonly see advisors among the governing ranks.

However, in recent times, especially since the fall of the Galactic Alliance, the Consortium has amassed more and more power, which they wield from their homeworld, Corris. Corris is where the temples of Corr were first discovered, and the old halls have remained a stronghold ever since.

Today, the Consortium wields a powerful army, and their continued popularity has swept across systems in the belt, creating massive support among the common populations, especially as the Eulian Empire threatens from the east.

The Corrus Council has a mainseat on the planet Corrus, this is where council members meet and gather to plan the expansion of the religion.

In many ways the Consortium resembles the Catholic Church — a spiritual institution whose reach extends far beyond its own borders, structured around ritual, hierarchy, and the guiding authority of a small inner circle.

Freedom and individuality are respected in the Corrus Consortium. If you wish to go about life your own way, that is respected, but thereby you also choose to be an enemy of the consortium, who, in their eyes, are the 'fittest' to survive.

At the top of the Consortium sit two equal branches: The Chosen and The Council. The Chosen is elected by the Council, but once appointed, each branch holds its own separate power. Neither answers to the other.

The Chosen is the Corrus ideal made flesh — a figurehead of inspiration, a living symbol of what a follower of Corr should aspire to be. Around them sits a personal court, residing almost exclusively at the Stronghold.

• Second Chosen — a challenger and ritual counterpart. They serve the Chosen but are also duty-bound to challenge them, and can act on their own accord. Should the Chosen fall, the Second Chosen may take their place.
• Advisors of the Chosen — there is no fixed number; the Chosen appoints as many or as few as they see fit.

The Council is the bureaucratic and diplomatic arm of the Consortium — negotiators, deal-makers, and spiritual administrators. Council members are generally referred to as Cardinals, and seats can be held for life. Seniority on the Council is measured in years served.
