How it works

LAG works by constantly accelerating a starship at around 9.8 m/s² to create a "vertical" sense of gravity. Then, at the halfway point when nearing a destination, the craft turns around and decelerates at a similar rate.

The advantage of LAG over rotational is that it can be utilized by smaller starships. It is also a common sight for dropships to utilize this form of AG.

Common dropships like the BL-5 dropship, also nicknamed "The Bullet," use LAG to ferry goods throughout many solar systems.

Their vertical platform means they can typically be deployed in any gravity, any atmosphere, and at any location with no need for ramps, landing pads, or the like. The LAG offers the Bullet comfortable living quarters at the top of the ship.

Variants of the Bullet exist that are fully autonomous. However, more often they have a crew to handle piracy on riskier routes, or on-ground offloading where there is a lack of automated infrastructure.
