Ships
The general term for vehicles capable of travelling in space, ranging from small military fighters to massive luxury cruisers — and the shared systems that keep them running.
Ships is the general term used for vehicles capable of travelling in space in Black Horizon.
They come in different sizes and vastly different capabilities, ranging from small military fighters to massive luxury cruisers. In the great distances of space, ships rely on a variety of ways to warp through space, break into atmospheres, and leave planets.
Common Types
- Cruisers — large warp-capable ships forming the backbone of interstellar fleets.
- Fighters — agile military vessels built around impulse boosters and heavy weapons.
- Freighters — cargo and transportation ships that carry the trade of the galaxy.
- Chariots — smaller warp-capable ships enabled by recent Horizon Drive breakthroughs.
- Drop Ships — short-range ships that ferry cargo and people from orbit to a planet's surface.
Shared Systems
Although there are many different ships, most of them share a common set of systems that let them traverse space. The most notable are the Horizon Drive, Impulse Boosters and a Force Shield. Ships have different ways of implementing these functionalities, but nearly all carry some form of them.
Other more universal features you will find on ships include docking ports, radar, artificial gravity, and general life support systems.
